Jefferson College Radiologic Technology Program receives continued accreditation

HILLSBORO, Mo. – The Jefferson College radiologic technology program has received continued accreditation for a full eight-year term from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), the only agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for accrediting educational programs in radiography and related fields.

Following a site visit and progress report, the JRCERT determined that Jefferson College’s program is in full compliance with all relevant standards and awarded the maximum possible accreditation term of 8 years. The program’s new status follows a previous probation period and reflects its return to full standing.

“JRCERT’s eight-year accreditation is the highest achievable honor for radiologic programs, signifying compliance with stringent educational and ethical benchmarks, and is considered the gold standard for radiography programs nationwide,” said Associate Dean of the School of Science and Health, Janet Akers-Montgomery. “This accreditation reflects the tireless work of our faculty, clinical partners and students. We are committed to fostering innovation in medical imaging education while maintaining the highest standards in our educational program.”

Accreditation ensures that students receive a quality education that meets national standards, which can directly impact certification, licensure and employment opportunities in the health care field. The program will submit an interim report in 2027, with its next full site visit scheduled for 2031.

“Receiving full accreditation is a deeply proud moment—not just for our institution, but for every person who has walked this journey with us,” said Program Director of Radiologic Technology Stacy Wilfong. “It’s a reflection of shared dedication, resilience and belief in the power of education to uplift communities. This achievement belongs to our students, faculty, families and partners. Together, we’ve built something meaningful, and this recognition fuels our commitment to keep growing, reaching and serving with even greater purpose.”

The JRCERT promotes excellence in education through the accreditation of programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance and medical dosimetry. Achieving continued accreditation affirms Jefferson College’s commitment to student success and professional readiness in the radiologic sciences.
