A funeral will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 for 89-year-old Joyce M. Kalmer of Red Bud, Illinois, who passed away at 11:35 p.m., Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, Illinois.
She was born September 16, 1932 in Red Bud, the daughter of John W. and Hilda E. (nee Boll) Whiteside who both preceded her in death.
Joyce married Joseph H. Kalmer on November 23, 1950 in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois; he preceded her in death on September 12, 1995.
She is survived by two sons: Terry Kalmer of Red Bud and Kevin (Della) Kalmer of Red Bud; a brother: Jesse Whiteside of Red Bud; three grandchildren: Amanda Kolweier, Matthew Kalmer and Kory (Heather) Kalmer; five great grandchildren: Samantha, Kelsey, Chance, Mason and Joseph and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by seven siblings: Johnny, Ruban, Marcella, Myrtle, Melvin, Dorothy and Bernice.
Joyce had been a homemaker and had also worked at Singer Furnace Factory and then worked in the Kitchen at St. Clement’s Hospital in Red Bud, Illinois.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud, Illinois, St. Anne’s C.C.W. Altar Sodality and V.F.W. Auxiliary in Red Bud, Illinois. Joyce and her husband cleaned the church for many years. Joyce also played the harmonica.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022 and 9-10 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud.
A funeral for 89-year-old Joyce M. Kalmer of Red Bud will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Pechacek Funeral Home, Red Bud. The Rev. Msgr. Dennis Schaefer will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Red Bud.
Memorials may be made to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
