A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 for 81-year-old Mary Ellen Douglas Jokerst, formerly of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., who passed away April 26, 2025.
She was born August 7, 1943 to Frances Douglas and Edna (Leat) Douglas, who both preceded her in death.
She is survived by two children: Charles “Doug” (Jodi) Jokerst and Joan M. (John) Wickstrom; a brother: Paul Douglas; nine grandchildren: Adam, Ben, Andrew, Douglas, Josh, Corey, Margaret, Hunter, Raymond; nine great grandchildren: Bryce, Myles, Kylie, Joey, Isiah, McKayla, Alaina, Isabella, and Bridget; and many beloved relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a sister in-law: Leola Douglas.
The family will be having a graveside service and inurnment Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
The family asks that all family and friends join them for lunch following the service at Cafe Genevieve.
Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Along with the Catholic Church, St. Jude’s was a charity Mary sponsored her entire life.
Mary was a member of many different Catholic Parishes over her life, Ste. Genevieve Catholic Parish Council, Mother of Sorrows Ladies Auxiliary (Valparaiso, Ind.), St. Mary’s (Crown Point, Ind.), St Elizabeth Ann Seton (Valparaiso, Ind.).
She donated her time to many different ministries including, bake sales, sewing prayer blankets, working fish fries, and cooking for funerals. She was always available to lend a hand or a smile.
Mary was an excellent home maker, cook, quilter, seamstress and gardener. Mary was a loving daughter, mother, sister and friend.
She will be forever missed by those she knew and loved.
