May Fourth Friday Artwalk is May 23

STE. GENEVIEVE — This month’s 4th Friday Art Walk in historic Ste. Genevieve will feature a range of artists and activities beginning at 6pm on Friday, May 23.

The Saint Genevieve Art Guild will show art from the Guild’s May 17 “Art in the Garden” event, in addition to a large exhibit of member work at the Art Center at 310 Merchant Street. Guild representatives say visitors “are invited to enjoy the new trees, shrubs and grasses planted around the public sculpture dedicated last year to our first Native American artists.” Funds for the landscaping were provided by a grant from the Master Gardener’s and some private donations.

At Silver Sycamore Gallery former Ste. Genevieve resident Mike Schuerman will show “some of his beautiful, one-of-a-kind, handcrafted guitars and talk about his process and the specific woods he uses to produce their mellow, melodic sound. He’ll be starting his presentation at 5:30.

ASL Pewter on Third Street just south of Market also will be open.

At Market and Second Street La Petite Fleur and QRST will be open with Connie Klein, local artist and recent award winner in the Art is Ageless competition as the featured artist. Other local artists’ work also can be seen at both locations. Ryan Fisher will be playing music in nearby Lions Club Park.

in the Little Bohemia neighborhood Music Art Love will have 2 featured artists: Steve and Kathy Hicks and live music by the Snowbird Street Band (Americana).

E•KLeK•TiX Studio & Gallery–featured in a special May 25 article in the Columbia Missourian–will offer new art, new and old friends, warm hospitality, complimentary cold refreshments, and other interesting things at 130 N. Main.

There’ll be original art and jewelry by Sam Conlon and other talented artisans at Only Child Originals and Rust, plus a collection of great spring and summer fashion at Rust.

At Jefferson and Main the Hertich House collection of art will be on display. Plus visitors can get a preview of the expansion of the Hertich House experience on the property adjacent to the lodging. That project includes a formal garden and the Two Rivers Gallery, scheduled to be opened in June, featuring work by well-known Washington, Missouri artist Bryan Haynes.

The 6 pm to 9 pm Art Walk is open to everyone. Most activities are free.
