A celebration of life will be held Monday, May 19, 2024 for 74-year-old Michael G. Trautman of Hamilton, Montana who died Friday, May 9, 2025 the result of a plane accident at Big Creek landing strip in Idaho backcountry.
He died doing what he loved.
He was born August 7, 1950 in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri the son of Gerald and Norma Trautman who both preceded him in death.
Mike married Judy Ann Kertz August 4, 1972. She survives.
He is also survived by his son, Daniel Trautman (Stephanie); and daughter, Krissy Sims (Matt); and grandchildren, Logan Trautman, Brant Trautman, Isaac Sims, and Abby Sims all of Spokane.
Mike was the oldest of eight children. The siblings are Randy Trautman (Susan), Marian Hoeflinger (Larry), Susan Kerlick (Kevin) of St. Louis, Missouri, Mark Trautman (Kathy), Jeff Trautman (Debbie), Tim Trautman (Shannon) of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, and Kevin Trautman of Amory, Mississippi.
Mike grew up in the rolling hills of Missouri and moved with his family in 1984 to the mountains of Montana, which he loved. Mike never liked conventional sports but had a love for the outdoor sports like hunting and fishing which he passed down to his kids and grandkids. He had many talents:taxidermist, carpenter, pilot, and could fix anything.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 19, 2025, 2 p.m. at Daly Leach Chapel, 1010 W. Main St. Hamilton, MT with a reception to follow at Daly Leach community room.
Memorial donations may be given to a charity of your choice or Idaho Aviation Association.
