STE. GENEVIEVE — Ste. Genevieve’s art community will be celebrating the legacy of the town’s most famous artist in April and city and county residents are invited to literally “play a role” in honoring John James Audubon. The renowned artist and ornithologist lived for a time in Ste. Genevieve in the early 19th Century.
The April 2022 celebration will include an original musical staged by the Ste. Genevieve Theatre Guild. Actors are being sought for the production titled “Hope Is a Shy Bird.” The production will premiere April 23-24. For information on available roles, the rehearsal schedule and how to participate visit the Theatre Guild Facebook page at www.facebook.com/kchibes.
County residents are also invited to participate in a birdhouse building exhibit and contest that will take place during the Audubon event, sponsored by the Sainte Genevieve Art Guild. For more information on the birdhouse competition visit the Art Guild website at www.artstegen.org.
Additional activities are planned for the April 22-24 weekend, which also marks Audubon’s 237th birthday and Earth Day 2022.
