CHSTER – The 2025 Chester High School Cheer Camp was deemed a huge success. Cheer Coach Karson Colvis, in her first year as Head Cheer Coach, said, “We had a great turnout for our Annual Kids Cheer Camp. Our theme this year was ‘We Love Cheer’, and we had a total of 120 participants.”
The camp had three separate age groups to accommodate the different levels of skill development and physical ability.
Group 1 included campers that were currently in Pre-K and Kindergarten.
Group 2 included campers that were in 1st and 2nd Grades.
Group 3 included campers that were currently in 3rd through 8th Grades.
Head Coach Karson Colvis and Assistant Cheer Coach, Cassy Helmers supervised the camp and current Chester High School Cheerleaders worked with the campers as instructors.
The CHS Cheer Squad instructors included Senior Captains Peyton Cole, Kourtney House, and Elaina Lutman. Junior cheerleaders included Callie Davis, Natalie Guetersloh, and Camryn Wolff. Sophomores included Elizabeth Dickneite, Brooke Howie, Olivia Sellers, Vacey Shields, McKenzie Studt, and Zoey Tucker. Finally, the freshmen cheerleaders included Ashlynn Addison, Caitlyn Hargis, Addie Jany, and Kaylin Jany. The girls did a fantastic job of instructing and leading the campers.
Throughout the week the CHS Cheerleaders taught the campers both a cheer routine as well as a dance routine. The curriculum also included learning various motions, stunts, and jumps.
On the final night of camp, the campers participated in a “Golden Shoe” competition. In this event, campers competed to find out who had the best toe touch. One girl was selected from each age group to decide the winners. The Group 1 winner was Kru Jany. The Group 2 winner was Presley Braun, and the Group 3 winner was Libby Guetersloh.
Coach Colvis said, “Overall the Kids Camp was a huge success! We thank the community for participating in our fun-filled week which ended with a performance at the CHS vs Sparta Basketball game. It was a great week and the girls look forward to it again next year.”
