STE. GENEVEVE – When severe weather caused significant damage to the Perry County School District 32 campus, students at Ste. Genevieve High School stepped up in a big way.
SG R-II Students and Staff: (not in order) Stella Cox, Olivia Klump, Lexi Warren, Hydee Dallas-Lemon, and Mrs. Kaitlyn Crump; Perry County 32 Students and Staff: Hannah Rittenbert, McKenize Pecaut, Chase Neal, Ben Huber, and Mr. Brent Roth.
Thanks to an idea sparked by educator Tiffany Wolk, students in Mrs. Kaitlyn Crump’s Dragon Prints marketing class launched a t-shirt fundraiser to support their neighbors in need. The student-led business designed and sold approximately 400 “We All Bleed Green” #PerryvilleStrong t-shirts at $20 each, raising more than $5,800 to help purchase classroom supplies for Perry County District 32 educators.
Dragon Prints is part of the school’s Marketing Productions course, a hands-on, project-driven class where students learn the fundamentals of marketing by creating and selling merchandise for school groups and activities. As part of the course, students develop collaboration, time management, and problem-solving skills, all while building a strong sense of community.
Recently, Dragon Prints students Stella Cox, Olivia Klump, Lexi Warren, and Hydee Dallas-Lemons joined Mrs. Crump to deliver t-shirts to Perry County’s Old Senior High School. They were greeted by several Perryville High School students and staff members, who joined them for a quick photo and warm thank-yous.
“This project was the perfect example of what our marketing course is all about—using creativity and collaboration to make a real difference,” said Crump. “Our students not only learned the ins and outs of launching a product, they saw firsthand how powerful community support can be.”
