84-year-old James R. Stolzer of Festus, MO, passed away April 5, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born January 12, 1941, in River Aux Vases, Mo., to Raymond and Mary (Rigdon) Stolzer, who both preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol (Baumann) Stolzer, and his children, Kris Lindsey (Steve), Sandy Dawson (John), Diane, Greg (Sue), and Mark. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Alex (Taylor), Austin (Kaytlynn), Matthew, Jack, Annie, and Emery. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren: Ryleigh and Trey.
James was born in River Aux Vases, MO, and grew up in a large family of 13 children.
He is survived by siblings Joan Gettinger, Cathy (Jim) Donze, Mike (Ann), Paul (Glenda), Margie (Earl) Walker, Mary (Tom) Schwartz, Lorretta (Duane) Griffard, Pat Regan, and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son: Kevin; a sister and brother-in-law: Marilyn and Dan Tarelton; a sister: Bernie Freidman; a brother-in-law: Don Gettinger; a sister: Betty Mae Stolzer; and a brother, Tom.
After graduating from Valle High School, James served honorably in the United States Army and was then married to Carol in 1963.
He worked hard in a career in manufacturing for over 50 years.
In retirement, James enjoyed walking at the park, gardening, and bird-watching in the warmer months. In winter, he enjoyed completing puzzle books, watching football, and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
His biggest passion was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he loved watching them swim in the pool while he sat in the sun. He enjoyed traveling with Carol, family, and friends and was proud to have traveled to more than 40 states and many national parks.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home Twin City Chapel, Festus, Missouri.
