JEFFERSON CITY—Spire Missouri, Inc. (Spire Missouri) natural gas customers will see rates drop slightly under a filing that will take effect on October 1, 2021.
Spire customers on the eastern side of the state will see an 82 cent a month reduction, while those on the western side of the state will only see a 48 cent a month reduction.
The change reflects a change in the Weather Normalization Adjustment Rider (WNAR) which authorizes rate adjustments based on weather variations.
The purpose of the WNAR tariff is to adjust revenues, either positive or negative, for differences between actual heating degree days and normal heating degree days.
This filing generally reflected colder than normal weather in the Spire East and Spire West districts.
Under tariffs filed by the natural gas company, a Spire Missouri East residential customer using 100 Ccf of natural gas in a given billing month would see a line item charge of $0.19 in their bill, which is a $0.82 reduction in their bill from the current WNAR rate.
A Spire Missouri West residential customer using 100 Ccf of natural gas in a given billing month would see a line item charge of $0.58 in their bill, which is a $0.48 reduction in their bill from the current WNAR rate.
