Lincoln Birthday Symposium rescheduled due to COVID concerns

SPRINGFIELD, ILL. – The annual February 12 Symposium held in Springfield to commemorate Abraham Lincoln’s birthday has been rescheduled to Tuesday, June 21, 2022, because of concerns over the surge in COVID-19 cases. Biographer, historian, and widely known television commentator Jon Meacham, who was originally scheduled to speak at the February 12 Symposium Banquet, will be the Banquet speaker on June 21.

The Abraham Lincoln Association’s annual Benjamin P. Thomas Symposium features several scholars and authors who make presentations concerning Lincoln’s life, times, and legacy. A full roster of speakers had been lined up for the February 12 event, and announcements will soon be made concerning the speakers who will appear at the rescheduled June 21 Symposium.

The Symposium talks are free and open to the public, while the Symposium luncheon and evening Banquet require paid reservations. Visit www.abrahamlincolnassociation.org for updates or to make reservations.
