COLUMBIA, Mo. — Gov. Mike Kehoe announced $559 million in new funds for the University of Missouri System when he delivered his budget recommendations for fiscal year 2026 in his first State of the State address Jan. 28. These appropriations include a 1.5% core funding increase for all higher education institutions in Missouri and support for capital projects systemwide. Additionally, the governor appropriated $50 million in new funding for the Radioisotope Science Center at the NextGen University of Missouri Research Reactor.
“This essential funding will drive us as Missouri’s only public land-grant, research university to serve the state and improve the lives of its citizens,” said Todd Graves, chair of the UM Board of Curators. “With these budget recommendations, Governor Kehoe has already displayed the same strong support for higher education as his predecessor had in prior years. We look forward to working with him toward our shared vision of strong higher education in our state.”
“Thanks to Governor Kehoe’s strong support, these essential projects will impact the lives of Missourians.” said University of Missouri President Mun Choi. “We deeply appreciate his strong commitment to our bold mission to provide students a world-class education, conduct groundbreaking research and providing meaningful engagement with the entire state.” |
