In Loving Memory of Marcia Lynne Graham Smenner
Marcia Lynne Graham Smenner passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Marcia was born on November 27, 1944, in Oakland, California. She attended California Lutheran University and later pursued graduate work at Missouri State University.
Marcia married Ray Smenner, and together they raised their daughters, Hillary and Allison, in Springfield, Missouri. Throughout her career, Marcia worked in editorial and administrative assistant positions, but her true passion was serving as a Chaplain’s Assistant at Cox Hospital, where she worked until her retirement in 2012.
In 2012, Marcia relocated to Perryville, Missouri, to be closer to family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she felt supported and loved. Pastor Sam Roethemeyer was particularly kind in ministering to Marcia during her final weeks.
Marcia received care at the Independence Care Center in Perryville, where the nurses and staff made her feel comfortable and cherished.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Graham and Pearl Kellenberg Graham, and ex-husband, Ray Smenner.
She is survived by her daughters, Hillary (Smenner) Childers and husband Jerry Childers of Perryville, Missouri, and Dr. Allison Dru of Media, Pennsylvania.
She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Jeremiah Childers and wife Mikayla, Lauren (Childers) Brown and husband Elijah, Madelynne Childers, Rachel Chabot, and Ben Chabot, along with two precious great-grandchildren.
Additionally, Marcia is survived by her sister, Judith Anderson and husband Jack Anderson, nephew Todd Anderson and wife Erin, niece Rebecca Perez and husband Ismael, as well as three great-nephews.
