JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – State Representative Brad Christ today announced his slate of bills for the 2025 legislative session, focusing on public safety, economic growth, and consumer protection. The comprehensive legislative agenda reflects Rep. Christ’s commitment to addressing critical issues impacting Missouri residents.
“These bills represent solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in our state,” Christ, R-St. Louis, said. “From enhancing public safety and supporting our first responders to fostering economic opportunities and protecting consumer rights, these legislative priorities aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Missourians.”
The list of proposed legislation includes:
- HB 494: Restores state control over the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department to address rising crime rates and improve law enforcement efficiency.
- HB 495: Enhances and redefines penalties for certain crimes, restores the state board over the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, and creates the “Committee on School Safety” to establish guidelines for school safety concerns.
- HB 496: Provides financial incentives and resources to address the recruitment and retention challenges faced by first responders statewide.
- HB 497: Missouri’s worker’s compensation laws to balance employer and employee needs while ensuring fairness in claims processing.
- HB 498: Establishes charter schools in St. Louis County to provide parents and students with additional educational choices.
- HB 499: Creates special zones to incentivize economic development and job creation by offsetting earnings tax burdens.
- HB 500: Introduces protections for individuals’ biometric data to ensure privacy and prevent unauthorized use by corporations or third parties.
- HB 501: Expands tax credits for amateur sports programs.
- HB 502: Requires healthcare providers to deliver clear and itemized billing statements to patients, improving transparency in medical costs.
- HB 503: Raises the minimum age to purchase tobacco products to 21, aligning Missouri with federal regulations to reduce youth smoking rates.
- HB 504: Establishes new provisions to ensure the safe sale and distribution of kratom products, protecting consumers from unsafe practices.
