A funeral will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 for 92-year-old Cletus George Steffens of Farrar, Missouri who passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Independence Care Center of Perry County.
He was born August 24, 1932 in Farrar to Theodor and Hilda (Verseman) Steffens, who both preceded him in death.
Cletus and Ruby Schuessler were married September 27, 1958 at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar.
Survivors include three sons: Kent (Mary) Steffens, Kerry (Dana) Steffens, and Tim (Stephanie) Steffens; daughter, Char (Ron) Palisch; 11 grandchildren: Erin Steffens, Scott (Mandy) Steffens, Beth (Kyla e Magee) Steffens, Bret (Rachael) Steffens, Trent (Lauren) Steffens, Chase (Allyson) Steffens, Colby (Sara) Palisch, Trey (Courtney) Palisch, Drew (Lindsay) Palisch, Connor Steffens, and Clayton Steffens; 10 great-grandchildren: Ansley, Afton, Greer, Lettie, Collins, Adalyn, Alma, Layne, Nolan, and Brynley; four sisters-in-law: Bernice Steffens, Norma Jean Steffens, Alvera (Wayne) DuBois, and Dot (Don Schwein) Kiefer; and a brother-in-law, Royal (Pauline) Mueller.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: LeeRoy Steffens and Robert Steffens; two sisters: Opal Mahnken and Elaine (Hadler) Davis; a grandson: Tyler Steffens; three brothers-in-law: Delvin Schuessler, Harold Hadler, and Leonard Mahnken; and a sister-in-law: Marlene Mueller.
He was a life-long member of Salem Lutheran Church where he served in several offices. He was also a member of the former Salem Men’s Club where he served numerous offices.
Cletus was a proud United States Army veteran, having served from 1953 to 1955 and during that time in Korea from December, 1953 to May, 1955.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 133.
Cletus was a l951 graduate of Perryville High School.
He retired from Chrysler.
Cletus was a loving and devoted husband for 66 years.
“Grandpa Cletus” dearly loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was happiest when he could spend time with them.
He and Ruby loved to travel, having been to Europe several times and Canada numerous times to visit with family and see the sites.
Visitation will be 8:30-noon Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar.

Burial will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Farrar with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 133 and the Delta Team.
Memorial contributions may be given to Journey Hospice, Salem Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
