STE. GENEVIEVE – A senior at Ste. Genevieve High School has been named the R-II district’s nominee for the John T. Belcher Scholarship.
Ainsley McClard can now apply for a $1,000 scholarship, which is awarded to a student in each of the MSBA’s 17 regions. Following the selection of regional winners, a statewide winner is chosen and will receive an additional $1,500 scholarship.
Applicants are judged on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities and the quality of an essay.
This scholarship is established through the Missouri School Board Association (MSBA) and Future Builders.
Members of the Ste. Genevieve County School District R-II Board of Education congratulate Ainsley McClard following her selection as a Belcher Scholarship nominee from the district.
Ainsley is the daughter of Lance and Laura McClard.
Ainsley’s scholastic honors include: A Honor Roll, top 10% of her class, and Summa Cum Laude. She has also been chosen as a class award recipient for French III.
Ainsley was a Rotary International exchange student in Grenoble, France, and participated in the French Model UN organization and the French Scout Association.
She has served as a senior class officer, a Student Council officer, the French Club President, Mentors. She has also been involved in National Art Honors Society, FRIENDS Club, Speech and Debate, Track and Field, Planet Power, Future Business Leaders of America, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Ste. Genevieve Art Guild, and Rotary ROTEX. In addition,
Ainsley was an FBLA District and State qualifier, was a member of SEMO All District Choir and SWACDA Honors Choir and has won numerous art awards.
Ainsley is employed as a lifeguard at the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center.
In her free time, she enjoys listening to live music, crocheting, knitting, painting, Thai boxing, rollerblading, kayaking and reading.
She plans to attend college in the fall and major in Architectural Engineering.
