JEFFERSON CITY — A 31-year-old Ste. Genevieve man suffered moderate injuries in a traffic crash on I-270 in St. Louis County Tuesday afternoon.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper J. R. Brown wrote in his accident report that the man was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by the Creve Cour Fire and Protection District.
Trooper Brown says the crash happened when a southbound 2022 Ford Maverick the Ste. Genevieve man was driving stopped for traffic and was hit by a southbound 2005 Honda Accord which the trooper said was following too close and travelling too fast for conditions. The trooper said the driver of the Honda attempted to avoid the Maverick by swerving to the left, and as a result ran off the left side of the roadway and struck the left side of the Maverick with its right side and then continued in a forward motion and struck the concrete median barrier with its left side.
Both drivers were buckled up.
The crash happened about 2:45 p.m. north of Olive Boulevard.
The Honda had extensive damage. The Maverick had minor damage. Both were removed by Mc McNamara’s Towing.
