Ste. Genevieve Community Services Forum hosts successful drive-thru drug takeback event with 27.8 pounds of medications collected

STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. – The Ste. Genevieve Community Services Forum hosted a drive-thru drug takeback event on October 26 resulting in 28.6 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter medications collected.

Forum Vice Chair Happy Welch says, “We have seen a drop in 2 years from a high of 105 pounds in April 2023 to this year’s 28.6 at the two collection locations” but that “having two daily drop off locations available at the Sheriff’s Office and the Health Department gives residents more opportunity to get rid of their old prescriptions and not just at the drive thru event.”

Volunteers collected old medications at the Bloomsdale Medical Center and the Ste. Genevieve Fire Department.

Thanks to the volunteers and assistance from the Ste. Genevieve Police Department and Sheriff’s Office.

The Forum will have the next “drive thru drug take back” event in April 2025.
