Donald G Schwent Sr., 83, of Ellisville, Mo. formerly of St. Mary, Mo. passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born June 9, 1941 in St. Mary, Mo.
He married to Martha (Buatte) Schwent on November 26, 1966.
He is survived by his wife: Martha Schwent of Ellisville, Mo.; two sons: Donald (Dana) Schwent Jr. of Austin, Tex., and Todd (Maria) Schwent of Fenton, Mo.; a daughter: Stephanie (Dean) Grass of Wildwood, Mo.; three sisters: Florence Meyer of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Delores Spraul of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., and Margie Wehmeyer of Perryville, Mo.; a brother: Raymond Schwent of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; grandchildren: Sophia, Luc, Olivia and Jack Schwent, Clayton, Trent, Dominic, Drake, Isabella and Chloe Grass
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Mary Armbruster, Bridgette Griffard, and Wilma Meyer; four brothers; Clarence Schwent, Wilfred Schwent, Louis Schwent, and Edward Schwent; his father: Edward Schwent; and his mother: Mary (Braun) Schwent
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2024 and 8-9:45 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2024 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve.
A funeral for Donald G Schwent Sr., 83, of Ellisville, Mo. formerly of St. Mary, Mo. will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2024 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The Rev. Anthony Gerber will officate.
Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Saint Mary, Mo. with full military honors.
Memorials may be made to Valle Schools Foundation, Immaculate Conception Cemetery, St. Mary Immaculate Conception Preservation Society, or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
He was a member of American Legion Post 150, a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul at Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church, and the St. Mary Immaculate Conception Preservation Society.
He was a long time employee of Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company in Crystal City, Mo.
Donald was a principled man of many trades, always fixing and working on projects.
Most of all he was a loving husband, dad and grandpa to his family and he will be missed by all who knew him.
