TILDEN – The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that Illinois 13 between Illinois 4 west of Tilden and Illinois 153 in Coulterville will be closed to through traffic starting, weather permitting, at 7 a.m., Monday, Oct. 21.
Illinois 4 traffic will be maintained for the duration of the $6.73 million improvement project, which is expected to be completed by late December. However, motorists on Illinois 4 should anticipate occasional flaggers during daytime work hours.
Motorists should follow the marked detour as follows:
- North of the project: Traffic may use westbound Illinois 13 to northbound Illinois 4 to eastbound Illinois 15 to southbound Illinois 153 in Coulterville.
- South of the project: Traffic may use southbound Illinois 4 to Sparta, eastbound Illinois 154 to Eden to northbound Illinois 153 in Coulterville.
Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone and detour route.
