JEFFERSON CITY — A four-year-old St. Mary boy was seriously injured in a traffic crash on I-55 in Perry County Saturday afternoon.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper K. L. Goforth, who investigated the crash, says the child, who was restrained, was taken to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis by an Air Evac Helicopter.
Trooper Goforth says the crash happened when a southbound 2018 Dodge Ram 5500 driven by 50-year-old Glen E. Morgan, also of St. Mary, caught on fire, travelled off the left side of the roadway and struck the cable median barrier. The crash report says Morgan, who was buckled up, had minor injuries and was taken to SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital.
The crash happened about 3 p.m. at the 123 mile marker.
The truck was a total loss and was removed by Harris Towing.
Trooper Goforth was assisted in his investigation by Corporal C.A. Groves.
