River Region Sports Wrap for Monday, September 16, 2024

Football

 

PERRYVILLE – St. Vincent won at Perryville 29-25.

 

 

Congratulations to the Mid America Rehab – Donze Communications Sports Players of the Game: the Perryville Pirates’ Chase Richardet and the St. Vincent Indians’ John Schwartz’.

 

This week, we had an unforgettable cross-town showdown between the Perryville Pirates and the St. Vincent Indians.

 

Both teams left it all on the field, and the game was an electrifying display of athleticism, teamwork, and passion.

 

With a final score of 29-25, St. Vincent edged out Perryville in what came down to the final seconds, but the efforts from both teams were truly incredible.

 

This week, we had to select two standout players. Congratulations to Chase Richardet of the Perryville Pirates and John Schwartz of the St. Vincent Indians. These young men were phenomenal on both offense and defense, making a huge impact throughout the entire game.

 

Thank you to both teams for such an amazing night of football!

Valle Catholic defeats Kennett in 2 sets:  25-19, 25-17

Valle Catholic splits with Winona:  24-25 (loss), 25-16 (win)

Valle Catholic defeats Notre Dame in 2 sets:  25-21, 25-14

 

Play-in Match:

Valle Catholic defeats Seckman in 2 sets:  25-15, 25-16

 

Gold Bracket:

Valle Catholic defeats Dexter in 3 sets:  25-22, 23-25 (loss), 25-17

Valle Catholic loses to Winona in 2 sets:  20-25, 14-25

 

There were 62 total teams in the tournament. 

 

Valle played in the Red Division which was the top division in the tournament, and the Warriors finished in a tie for third in that division.

 

Valle plays at Jackson today.

 

PERRYVILLE – St. Vincent played in the Dig For Life Tournament.

 

The Indians play at Crystal City Tuesday at 7 p.m.

 

CHESTER – Chester hosts Gibault Catholic Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

 

PERRYVILLE – Perryville  played in the North County Tournament Saturday.

 

The Lady Pirates play ninth grade, junior varsity and varsity games at Notre Dame today.  

 

STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve lost to Parkway West on Saturday 25-16 and 25-21.

 

The Dragons scored a 2-0 win in their second game,  against Washington.

 

Ste. Genevieve plays Cape Notre Dame Tuesday at home.

 

Softball

 

PERRYVILLE – Perryville hosts Kelly at 4:30 today.

 

PERRYVILLE – The Saxony-St. Vincent Co-Op Team plays at Fredericktown Tuesday at 4:30.

 

Cross Country

 

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Cross Country Teams were in action at the Arcadia Valley Invitational Saturday.

 

The meet featured 31 competing high schools in the varsity girls race and the Dragons finished in 5th place overall.

 

Individual Cross Country Medalists:

 

Hollyn Zangaro came in third,

Ashlyn Wezner came in 22nd.

 

In the JV races:

 

Hailey Davis came in 17th,

Lilli Farlow came in 22nd,

Zac Ritter came in 12th,

CHESTER – The Chester co-ed varsity cross country team travels to the Sparta Invitational Tuesday.
