STE. GENEVIEVE – Rotary District 6060 recently awarded the Ste. Genevieve Rotary Club a $500 grant for the express purpose of helping young girls in one capacity or another.
The club decided to use the “Empowering Girls” grant to prepare care packages for girls in need. The club also voted to match the grant to make care packages for boys. The club assembled backpacks with toiletries, school supplies, and some games and delivered to both Valle and Ste. Genevieve schools.
“The Empowering Girls initiative is a club- and district-level service opportunity,” said Elizabeth Usovicz, a member of the Rotary International Board of Directors. “The primary role of this project is to develop a framework and resources that enhance the ability of Rotary to participate in and promote service projects that focus on the health, education, safety, well-being, and economic development of girls of our world.”
Ste. Genevieve Club President Josh Wright was pleased that the club was able to carry out this project for the second year in a row.
