A funeral will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024 for 88-year-old James Edward Cissell of Brewer, Mo. passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 at Independence Care Center of Perry County.
He was born April 19, 1936 in Perry County, Mo. to Thomas and Idelle (Moore) Cissell, who both preceded him in death.
He and Peggy Franklin were married April 16, 1955 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake. She survives.
He is also survived by seven children: Deborah (Steven) Schamburg of Perryville, Mo., Cheryl Davis of Perryville, Mo., Marilyn (Jim) Tucker of Brewer, Mo., Tammy (Mike) Alexander of Jackson, Mo., Bobby (Denise) Cissell of Brewer, Mo., Randy (Julie) Cissell of Brewer, Mo., Daniel Cissell of Brewer, Mo.. 12 grandchildren: Lauren (Justin) Laenen of Niceville, Flor., Chad (Kris) Weber of St. Louis, Mo., Matthew (Angie) Tucker of Brewer, Mo., Tyler (Fiance Ashley L’Hote) Glueck of Perryville, Mo., Chelsea (Craig) Niemoeller of St. Louis, Mo., Ashley (Corey) Andrade of Longwood, Flor., Caleb (Sam Wisniewski) Davis of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Austin (Kylie) Alexander of Jackson, Mo., Caitlin Schamburg of St. Louis, Mo., Taylor (Fiance Kyle Fahnestock) Cissell of Perryville, Mo., Zachary Cissell of Kansas City, Mo., and Jake Cissell of Brewer, Mo., 14 great-grandchildren: Averie, Aubrie, Reese, Ella, Aylin, Audrey, Ivy, Arlo, Aura Leigh, Tate, Addie, Ryker, Kaden and Connor.
He was also preceded in death by a son: Terry James Cissell; an infant daughter; two brothers: Donald Cissell, and Perry Cissell; and two sisters: Betty Renaud and Sally McAtee.
James was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer.
James was a self-employed carpenter and cabinet builder.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and Mizzou Tigers.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024 and from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
A funeral mass for 88-year-old James Edward Cissell of Brewer, Mo. will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer with the Rev. Jay Jung C.M. officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Perryville, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be given to Missouri School for the Deaf.
