Naeger family chosen as Missouri Farm Family for Ste. Gen Co.

SEDALIA ― This year University of Missouri Extension and the local Farm Bureau selected the Aaron and Missy Naeger family as the 2024 Missouri State Fair Ste. Genevieve County Farm Family.

They were honored during the 67th annual Missouri Farm Family Day at the Missouri State Fair on Aug. 12.

Each year, the state fair sets aside a day to recognize farm families from across the state who are active in their communities, involved in agriculture, and/or participate in local outreach and extension programs such as 4-H or FFA. Aaron and Missy Naeger, and their two daughters Magnolia and Caroline, comprise Bar MC Livestock.

“In years to come,” Missy Naeger states, “our goal is to have a small, registered Angus herd for the purposes of breeding show cattle for our girls to exhibit at the local, regional, and state level.” Both daughters are involved in 4-H and enjoy showing cattle, which they have done at the Ste. Genevieve County Fair as well as several out of county prospect shows. Besides the family’s involvement in 4-H and livestock, the family’s agricultural interests include a larger farming operation in which Aaron works along with his dad and brothers.

The annual event is sponsored by five partner agencies: the Missouri Farm Bureau; the Missouri Department of Agriculture; the Missouri State Fair Commissioners; the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources; and MU Extension and Engagement.

The event showcases the impact Missouri Farm Families have on the economy and heritage of the state, said Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe. “These families are involved in agriculture activities in their communities and are active participants in local outreach and extension. As the premier showcase for Missouri agriculture, the Missouri State Fair is most certainly the appropriate place to celebrate these families.”
