Welcoming Chester students and staff back to school

CHESTER – Friday, August 16 was the first day of school for Chester Grade and High Schools.  The tradition of “First Day of School Greeting” was continued by a group of Chester retired teachers and staff.

The group; (from left) Bea Conley, Tammy Grah, Toni Hosick, Lois Tindall, Paula Platt, Eleanor Miller, Carolyn Schwent, and Norma Baughman; gathered with lawn chairs at 7 a.m. on Opdyke Street in front of Norma Baughman’s home with the orange “Welcome Back” sign displayed.

The retired educators waved and greeted students, parents, teachers, staff, administrators and bus drivers headed for the first day of the 2024-2025 school year at Chester Grade School.

The Chester Retired Teacher/Staff group enjoys social events together, volunteers for community organizations, and continues to support local schools and area educators.  They hope all students and staff enjoy a successful and enjoyable 2024-25 school year.
