Ste. Genevieve city sales tax receipts continue to fall

STE. GENEVIEVE – The city of Ste. Genevieve received its July sales tax distribution from the Missouri Department of Revenue August 6th and found the amount to be nearly $12,000 less than the July check received last year.

 

The DOR reported $60,211.38 was put in the city’s bank account. In July 2023 that figure was nearly $72,000.

 

So far this calendar year the one percent tax has brought in nearly $486,000 and that is down nearly $13,000 from the first seven months of 2023.

 

The city’s capital improvements and mass transit taxes are also under-performing, each was down nearly $7,000 for the month and more than $6,000 for the year to date.

 

The city’s consolidated city use tax was also down in July by more than $11,000. However the consolidated city use tax has brought in more than $266,000 so far this year and that is up more than $117,000 compared with the first seven months of last year.
