Donald E. Hoog

A funeral will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 for 92-year-old Donald E. Hoog of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Riverview At The Park in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

 

He was born August 13, 1932 in Ste Genevieve, Mo. a son to Roman Hoog and Lena (Basler) Hoog who both preceded him in death.

 

He married Darlene (Vessell) Hoog June 1, 1957. She survives in Ste. Genevieve.

 

He is also survived by two sons: Dale (Pam) Hoog of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. and Derrick (Allison) Hoog of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter: Doreen (Les) James of Hannibal, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

 

He was also preceded in death by a sister: Patricia Weiler; and a brother-in-law: Vince Weiler.

 

He was a member of American Legion Post 150, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1037.

 

Don was an avid fisherman, woodworker and a wonderful family man.

 

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he was a devout Catholic and Christ follower.

 

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2024 and 8-9:45 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

 

A funeral for 92-year-old Donald E. Hoog of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The Rev. Edward Nemeth will officiate.

 

Burial will be at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo. with full military services performed by VFW 2210.

 

Memorials may be made to Masses or Valle Schools.
