River Region Sports Wrap returns

PERRYVILLE – The Perryville Pirates opens its season Friday, August 23 at 6 p.m. in a jamboree at Cape Girardeau.

The Pirates’ regular season opens Thursday, August 29 at 7 p.m. hosting Fredericktown.

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Dragons will host a jamboree with Park Hills, Potosi and Oakville Friday August 23 at 6 p.m.

CHESTER – The Chester Yellow Jackets open its season Friday, August 30 at 7 p.m. at DuQuoin.

PERRYVILLE – The St. Vincent Indians open its season at 7 p.m. Friday, August 30th when they host Ste. Genevieve.

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Valle Catholic Warriors play at Monroe City Friday, August 30 at 7 p.m.

Brian Jett to be inducted into Missouri Sports Hall of Fame

STE, GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve R-II Athletics would like to congratulate Brian Jett on his induction this coming September into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame!

Coach Jett was a track and cross country coach at SGHS and led the Dragons to five Girls Cross Country State Championships and a Girls Track and Field State Championship.

Coach Jett was also inducted into the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2015.

PERRYVILLE – The rain delayed Twisted Cat Outdoors Fishing Tournament was held Saturday in Perryville

 

Contestants fished the Mississippi River from Ste. Genevieve to Cape Girardeau.

 

First place & Big Fish winners Justin Borgfield & John Spatafora with a big fish of 96.28 lbs and a total weight of 191.6 lbs.

1st Place was worth $4,200

Castaway Customs MWSC Big Fish was worth $500
