FARMINGTON – The August Women’s Connection will feature “A Visit with Corrie” Tuesday, August 13th.
Gayle Haas (in the role of Corrie ten Boom) will be the special guest at the Women’s Connection Brunch from 9:15-11 a. m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Farmington Presbyterian Church, 403 W. Columbia.
Wife, mother, grandmother, prayer warrior, teacher, dramatist/storyteller, conference speaker, Gayle is a nurturer who embraces Biblical values of life and family. Graduating from Illinois University with a BA in Consumer Education and Home Economics, she has taught in both public and private schools.
Because of her love of others of all ages, she participates and leads in women’s, children’s, care giving ministries, and family education programs.
One of her greatest pleasures is developing and performing dramatic monologues of historical and fictional characters.
As Corrie ten Boom, a Dutch Christian Holocaust survivor who helped many Jews escape the
Nazis during World War II, she will share some of her experiences growing up in Haarlem, Holland and
her family’s commitment to work with the Dutch Resistance and her powerful message of love and forgiveness.
Gayle’s latest is a fictional character, “Grannie Carter”— a make-believe
elderly woman with an infectious laugh who sprinkles stories of timeless truths with country humor.
Gayle and her husband, Dan, residents of Aurora, Illinois, with 45+ years of local church ministry have
founded “A Future and Hope Foundation” that focuses on prayer for urban communities addressing issues of, violence, poverty, education and discipleship training.
