A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024 for 81-year-old Sharon Rose Pingel of Perryville, Mo. who peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 surrounded by her loving family and friend, Sandy Schumer, at Mercy Hospital Perry County.
She was born June 17, 1943 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. to Lloyd Simon and Eleanor Marie (Moonier) Layton who both preceded her in death.
Sharon and Terry Pingel were married December 18, 1976. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2021. He prececed her in death.
She is survived by a son: Curtis Buchheit; three daughters: Tina (Mike) Oberndorfer, Tracy Engert, and Becky (Allen) Cissell; a sister: Jackie (Doug) Estes; seven grandchildren: Brigette (Chad) Hagan, Christopher Buchheit, Kinzie (Mark) Hanson, Jared (Amanda) Oberndorfer, Sara (Mark) Unterreiner, Chase (Krista) Cissell, and Cheyenne Cissell; 10 great-grandchildren: Jadon, Zachary, Zoey, Lynna, Hadley, Lucas, Brendyn, Addisyn, Drexton, and Kaden.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Joanie Jokerst, and Velda Barks; three brothers: Bobbie Layton, Bill Layton, and Glenn Layton.
She was a factory technician for Prince Gardner, sales clerk for Roziers Mercantile and a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 4282 Ladies Auxiliary, volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store and a Group Leader of Emotion Anonymous.
Sharon loved learning new skills on her computer, especially making personalized cards for family members. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family at her aunt and uncle’s cabin, playing cards and word puzzles. Sharon also loved to dance. One of her favorite hobbies was collecting angels. She and her husband enjoyed decorating for the holidays. Sharon will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and will continue from 7:30-9:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 31.2024 at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m.
A funeral mass for 81-year-old Sharon Rose Pingel of Perryville, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with Rev. Fred Wandera C.M. officiating.
Entombment will be at Mary Queen of Saints Mausoleum at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
