Virginia E. Blythe

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 for 85-year-old Virginia “Tinker-ma” E. Blythe of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away June 21, 2024 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, Mo.

 

She was born August 20, 1938 in Kaskaskia , Ill., daughter of Louis Andrew DeRousse and Margaret L. DeRousse who both preceded her in death.

 

She survived by three sons: Duane DeRousse of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Kevin (Earlene) DeRousse of Barnhart, Mo., and Thomas (Alicia) Blythe of Jacksonville, Fla,; a daughter: Virba “Sally” Blythe of Oakville, Mo.; grandchildren: Dustin Abt, Logan DeClue, Adam Spraul, Madison DeRousse, and Riley Blythe; great-grandchildren: Keagan, Kyndell and Kymber Abt, Elijah, Emerson, and Elliott DeClue; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Theresa L Spraul; seven brothers: Louis DeRousse, Jerry DeRousse, Donovan “Donnie” DeRousse, Robert “Bob” DeRousse, Lawrence “Larry” DeRousse, Louis “Louie” DeRousse, and David DeRousse; four sisters: Carol Johnson, Yvonne Heberlie, Helen Basler, and Margaret Ann “Margie” Welker.

 

Virginia was a whimsical, strong-willed, authentic and caring woman to all who ever had the pleasure of being in her company. She was the “Mother Hen” of the neighborhood when raising her many children, and cared for all others who came around.

 

Her charisma was carried over into her work at Rhodes, where many of those relationships carried on throughout her life. Virginia loved flowers and gardening, cooking and baking, crocheting, playing Bingo and always scratching away at tickets.

 

She will be missed by all who have fond memories of her, and cherished forever by her family.

 

A graveside service for 85-year-old Virginia “Tinker-ma” E. Blythe of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2024 at Crestlawn Cemetery.

 

A luncheon will immediately follow at the American Legion Hall.
