Marvin H. Drury

A funeral will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 for 99-year-old Marvin H. Drury of Bloomsdale, Mo. who passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Ste. Genevieve Care Center in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.

He was born September 8, 1924 in Bloomsdale, Mo., a son to Emmett Drury and Laura (Bayer) Drury who both preceded him in death.

He married Ethlyn (Miller) Drury on June 21, 1947. She survives in Bloomsdale.

He is also survived by six sons: Thomas (Diane) Drury of Bloomsdale, Mo., Larry (Christine) Drury of Bloomsdale, Mo., Wayne (Cindy) Drury of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Chris (Connie) Drury of Bloomsdale, Mo., Paul (Cheryl) Drury of Searcy, Ark., Patrick (Tammy) Drury of Tequesta, Fla.;

22 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Elmer (Evelyn) Drury, Eddis (Margaret ) Drury, Ralph Drury.

He was a member and past Grand Knight of Bloomsdale Knights of Columbus Council 1848, American Legion Bloomsdale Post 554, VFW, Associate General Contractors of Missouri, First President of St. Agnes Parish Council, Founder of the Bloomsdale Catholic Foundation, Missouri Association of State Troopers Emergency Relief Society (MASTERS), and past Chairman of the Board of Bank of Bloomsdale.

Marvin proudly served our country in the United States Army during WWII. Immediately started his business in 1946 and quickly married the love of his life, Ethlyn, with whom he just celebrated 77 years of marriage and raised a forever growing family. While Marvin was a man who emphatically drove his business ventures to success, he quietly impacted so many lives. Shared stories involving Marvin will be bold, awesome, touching, or funny. They will not be sad.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024 and 8-10:30 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

A funeral for 99-year-old Marvin H. Drury of Bloomsdale, Mo. will be held at 11 a.m Friday, June 28, 2024 at the St. Agnes Church. The Rev. Ryan Weber will officiate.

Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Bloomsdale, Mo. followed by military honors performed by VFW Post 2210.

Memorials can be made to Bloomsdale Catholic Foundation, Sisters of the Most Precious Blood of O’Fallon, Mo., or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
