Gary Rhinehart

A funeral will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 for 78-year-old Gary Rhinehart of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Monday, June 10, 2024 at his home.

He was born October 25, 1945 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. a son of Robert W Bohnert, M. Charles Rhinehart and Sylvia (Schumer) Long, who all preceded him in death.

He married Barbara (Operle) Rhinehart on October 14, 1967. She survives in Ste. Genevieve.

He is also survived by a son: Jaison Rhinehart of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; a daughter: Lynette Rhinehart of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; two sisters: Becky (Larry “Izzy”) Kist of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. and Tosca (Robert) Colnar of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; five brothers: Fr. Bill Rhinehart of Perryville, Mo., Chuck (Cathy) Rhinehart of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Eric (Diane) Rhinehart of Saint Mary, Mo., Mark (Cindy) Rhinehart of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., James (Michelle) Rhinehart of Park Hills, Mo.; a sister-in-law: Judy Rhinehart of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; grandchildren: Sarah (James) Freeman, Lydia (Andrew) Brant, Aaliyah Rhinehart, Patrick Rhinehart and Bryce Litterst.

Preceded in death by two brothers: Matthew Arnold Rhinehart and Dale Rhinehart; and a sister, Margaret Bohnert.

Above all Gary loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he had a love for infants and children, he looked forward to giving candy canes to kids at Christmas and seeing the smiles on their faces.  

Gary was known by many as brother whistler, you could hear him whistling while working and worshiping the Lord.  

He is now whistling in the presence of Jesus.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. -11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

A funeral for 78-year-old Gary Rhinehart of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. will be at the Basler Funeral Home on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00 am with full military honors provided by VFW Post 2210.

The clergy will be Brother Stephen Battles and Pastor Rick Hensley.

Memorials may be made to Ste. Genevieve Center for Life or Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial in Perryville
