With deadline looming, Lutheran Family and Children’s Services urges Missouri Tax Payers to maximize charitable giving with PRTC Tax Credits

ST. LOUIS, Mo.– Lutheran Family and Children’s Services (LFCS),

one of Missouri’s oldest social service agencies and a trusted provider of life-changing services for children and families, is encouraging donors and businesses to take advantage of the state’s Pregnancy Resource Center Tax Credit (PRTC) program before the June 27 deadline. The program rewards donors with a significant tax credit for their contributions to qualified nonprofit organizations like LFCS.

“With the deadline rapidly approaching, we want to make sure everyone is aware of the PRTC program that allows them to stretch their charitable dollars further while supporting essential services for children and families in need,” said Mike Duggar, President and Chief Executive Officer for LFCS. “Don’t miss this opportunity to make a real difference in Missouri.”

How the PRTC Program Works:

  • Donors: Individuals and businesses with Missouri state tax liability can contribute a minimum of $1,000 and a maximum of $50,000.
  • Tax Credit: Donors receive a 70 percent tax credit on their Missouri tax return for the value of their contribution. This credit can be carried forward for one year.
  • Additional Benefit: Donors can receive the remaining 30 percent as a charitable deduction on their federal and state income tax returns.
  • Donations must be received by June 27, 2024.

The PRTC program creates a win-win for both donors and Missouri communities. Donors can maximize their charitable impact while reducing their tax burden by supporting important social causes. This critical funding allows nonprofits like LFCS to keep providing essential services to children and families, ultimately strengthening communities across Missouri.

Approved by the Missouri Department of Social Services to participate in the PRTC program, LFCS uses donations to provide a wide range of services, including pregnancy and parenting support.
