Jay Alan Markwell, 62, of Wichita, KS, passed away on May 29, 2024. He was born on October 11, 1961.
Jay was a dedicated provider for his family and always extended a helping hand to strangers without expecting anything in return.
Jay will be reunited with his loving wife Renee Markwell of nearly 33 years who passed earlier this year from cancer.
He is survived by their children: son, Arron (partner Rylee) Markwell of Wichita, KS and daughter, Lillian Keil of Georgetown, TX. Jay is also survived by his daughter Kristina Markwell of Perryville, MO and son Anthony Markwell of Perryville, MO. Two brothers Jon Markwell of Wichita, KS and Joel Markwell of Atlanta, GA. And three grandchildren: Noel Markwell, Elijah Markwell, and Jade Markwell.
Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Renee Markwell; father, Darwin Markwell; mother, Mary Lee Markwell; and two brothers, Jan Markwell and James Markwell.
Jay served in the United States Army for over 6 years. After his military service, he worked as an aircraft mechanic for almost 31 years.
In his free time, Jay enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his beloved wife and friends.
A service will be held at the Richard Gilbert American Legion Post 256, 4590 W. Vanderhoff Cir., Wichita, KS 67209 on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 at noon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Legion Post 256 in Jay’s honor or to the family in c/o Arron Markwell.
