JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Speaker of the House Jonathan Patterson has formed the Future Caucus of the 103rd General Assembly and selected State Representative Colin Wellenkamp to chair. The newly formed Future Caucus is intended to seek out and determine issues and challenges impacting the State of Missouri.
The Future Caucus will explore critical developments around the state and assimilate those developments into better-understood knowledge-based analysis for House standing, statutory, special, interim, and auxiliary committees.
“I am very pleased to serve the people of Missouri in this new and exciting capacity,” Rep. Wellenkamp, R-St. Charles, stated. “I’m emboldened by Speaker Patterson’s forward-looking approach to equip our state with the issue considerations needed to develop impactful and valuable policy.”

Wellenkamp emphasized the critical role the Caucus is expected to play in helping the House assess and intake some of the most challenging and relevant issues pressing for near-term attention: “We will be exploring matters of exigent and trying detail such as AI, cybersecurity, disaster mitigation, and policies that build economic assurance for our state,” Wellenkamp said.
The Caucus will work to develop meaningful background and communiques with House committees to help them assimilate and organize information needed to legislatively address issues coming before the state that may present difficult complexities. The Caucus looks forward to working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure sound legislation and deliver results to the citizens of Missouri.
