District monitoring graduation weather

PERRYVILLE – The district is aware of the potential for severe weather today Friday, May 16, that may impact our community at the time of Perryville High School graduation. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 7 pm.

Safety Director Garrett Schott is actively monitoring the weather with the assistance of Perryville’s Emergency Management Director Jeremy Mantz. He and district administrators will attend online National Weather Service briefings at 4 am and 11 am. Officer Schott will meet by phone at 2 pm today with a meteorologist from NWS in Paducah for a forecast specific to our community.

Our greatest hope is that graduation proceeds exactly as planned. However, we are developing a number of contingency plans based on what could potentially happen to ensure that our graduates, their families, and our staff are safe and secure.

Any changes to the graduation ceremony will be communicated to parents and the community before 3 pm.
