A funeral will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025 for 93-year-old Florence Meyer of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
who passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Parkwood Meadows in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
She was born October 6, 1931 in St. Mary, Mo., a daughter to Edward Schwent and Mary (Braun) Schwent, who both preceded her in death.
She married Glennon Meyer on January 17, 1953). He preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons: Eugene (Vicki) Meyer of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Robert (Mary) Meyer of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., and Kevin (Lori) Meyer of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; three daughters: Glenda (Paul) Stolzer of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Diane (Gary) Mueller of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. and Clarita (Bruce) Hayes of Saint Charles, Mo.; two sisters: Delores A. Spraul of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Margie Wehmeyer of Perryville, Mo.; a brother: Ray Schwent of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; grandchildren: Lindsey (Chrys) Lee, Kim (Brandon) O’Haver, David Stolzer (friend Kara Spang), Andrew (Hannah) Kramer, Joseph (Mylan) Stolzer, Caroline Stolzer (Friend Logan Kemper), Sara (Nathan) Lorenz, Daniel (Lindsey) Meyer, Tina (Kyle) Schuessler, Eric (Whitney) Meyer, Brett (Melissa) Meyer, Chad (Jordon) Mueller, Ryan (Alex) Mueller, Adrea (Andrew) Filer, Sarah (Dennis) Carlson, Mandy (Lance) Meyer, Derek (Samantha) Meyer, Austin Hayes, Kaylin (Jeremy) Lundgren, Connor Hayes; and 22 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Stephen E. Meyer; daughter: Donna Sue Meyer;three sisters: Marie Armbruster, Bridget Griffard, and Wilma Meyer; and five brothers: Clarence Schwent, Wilfred Schwent, Louis Schwent, Edward Schwent, Jr., and Donald Schwent.
She was a member of St. Joseph and Ste. Genevieve Parish, Association of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville, and the VFW Auxiliary.
Florence was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
In addition to being a homemaker, excellent cook, and gardener, Florence was a seamstress and retired from the Miss Elaine Garment Factory in Ste. Genevieve. Florence was an experienced and avid quilter and enjoyed making quilts to share with her family.
She loved her family and spending time with/caring for them throughout the years. She and her husband Glennon had eight children, 20 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
Her final years were spent at Parkwood Meadows where she enjoyed friendships and her self-appointed “work” of folding towels.
Florence was sweet, funny, and caring and demonstrated a life of love and service to others.
In addition to sewing and quilting, she enjoyed playing bingo and scrabble, and doing puzzles.
She will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
A funeral for 93-year-old Florence Meyer of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Ryan Weber will officiate.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Zell, Mo.
