40+ pounds of medication collected in latest drug take-back

STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. – The Ste. Genevieve Community Services Forum hosted a drive-thru drug take back event April 26 resulting over 40 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter medications collected.

Forum Vice Chair Happy Welch says, “We have seen a drop in two years from a high of 105 pounds in April 2023 to 2024’s 28.6 at the two collection locations” but that “this year we were busy from 9 a.m. to the end and ran over a little bit.”

Volunteers collected old medications at the Bloomsdale Medical Center and the Ste. Genevieve Fire Department.

Thanks to the volunteers and assistance from the Ste. Genevieve Police Department and Sheriff’s Office.

The Forum will hold the next “drive thru drug take back” event in October 2025.
