Municipal election winners are sworn in at Board of Aldermen meeting

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen met Thursday for regular and work sessions.

 

The newly-elected and re-elected city officers: Mayor Brian Keim, and aldermen: First Ward Amie Dobbs, Second Ward Sam Hughey, Third Ward Joe Steiger and Fourth Ward Teddy Ross were sworn in by City Clerk Pam Meyer.

 

 

City Administrator Happy Welch reported the new playground equipment had been installed at Pere Marquette Park.

 

 

The aldermen approved the following resolutions which were included in the consent agenda:

 

Resolution 2025-31 seeking designation as a Blue Shield City.

 

Resolution 2025-32 seeking the Missouri Main Street Connection Community Empowerment Grant.

 

Resolution 2025-33 allowing a sandwich board sign at 220 Merchant designating parking for short term rental occupants.

 

Resolution 2025-34 approving the final budget for American Rescue Plan Act funds.

 

Resolution 2025-35 entering the city into an agreement with Missouri Chamber Federation Benefit Plan Trust for city employee health insurance plan for 2025-2026.

 

The city held a public hearing on the proposed water/sewer rates.

 

Old Business:

 

Bill No. 4669, a proposal for Metro-Ag Inc. for the removal and land utilization of residuals from the wastewater treatment plant was approved on an 8-0 vote.

 

New Business:

 

The $416,942.60 low bid from Jokerst Paving for the 9th Street Roadway Improvement Project was approved.

 

Bill No. 4670: Revising the water use charges was given first round approval.

 

Bill No. 4671: Revising the sewer use charges was given first round approval.

 

Bill No. 4672: A $416,942.60 contract with Jokerst Paving for the 9th Street Roadway Improvements Project was given first and second round approval. The vote on final approval was 8-0. Alderman Joe Steiger opposed bringing the measure to a second vote.

 

Bill No. 4673: revising water use rates was given first round approval.

 

The aldermen met in a work session following the regular session to discuss replacing an engine in a police car and a basement sewer back up in the 700 block of Pointe Basse.
