SG R-II hosts Annual Unified Track Meet

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve County School District R-II recently held its Annual Unified Track Meet last week on Wednesday, April 16.

The event was an inspiring success, with more than 100 students from eight schools visiting Ste. Genevieve to participate!

The event was filled with energy, encouragement, and teamwork, making for an inspiring day of inclusion and connection.

 

 

The following schools participated:

  • Genevieve County R-II: 6 participating students
  • Arcadia Valley: 21 participating students
  • Central: 16 participating students
  • Farmington: 7 participating students
  • Fredericktown: 12 participating students
  • Kingston: 10 participating students
  • North County: 19 participating students
  • West County: 9 participating students

More than 100 Ste. Genevieve R-II students volunteered to help coordinate and support the event. From welcoming athletes and running events to cheering from the sidelines, their enthusiasm played a key role in the day’s success.

We would like to share a sincere thank you to the following individuals and organizations for their support and volunteerism:

  • Track Team and Coaches for organizing all of the events;
  • SGHS FRIENDS organization and high and middle school student athletes for helping to run the events;
  • Officers Christy Clark and Nic Cusanelli, Major Jason Schott, and the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Department for handling each and every medal, ribbon, and certificate;
  • EMT’s for being ready with medical emergencies;
  • Lacie Ritter for Victory Village outdoor game set-up;
  • Chris Thompson for building the awards podium;
  • Genevieve Rotary Club for assembling lunches for athletes, buddies, and coaches;
  • Stephanie Gegg for the official announcing;
  • The Ste. Genevieve County R-II support staff members in Room 122 for being incredible every day;
  • SGHS Student Council and its advisors for the meet and greet for visiting schools, working concessions and for cheering on the student athletes as they competed;
  • Student Olyvia Beckermann for designing and making the senior banners;
  • Faculty and staff for bringing their classes out to cheer on their peers; and
  • Building and district administration for assistance and flexibility.
