Richard L. Trokey

A celebration of life will be held at a future date for 81-year-old Richard L. Trokey of Steeleville, Ill., who passed away at 10:05 a.m, Sunday, April 20, 2025 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, Illinois.


He was born January 18, 1944 in East St. Louis to Isaac and Shirley (nee Cook) Trokey who both preceded him in death.


Rich married Melinda Scarcliff on June 1, 1972 in Murphysboro, Illinois; she survives in Steeleville.

 

He is also survived by two children: Patrick Trokey of Steeleville, Ill. and Erin (Aaron) Hood Steeleville, Ill.; two granddaughters: Sydney and Jenna Hood of Steeleville, Ill.; four sisters: Jacqueline (Gino) Cappello Lebanon, Ill., Laura (Dave) Owens New Baden, Ill.,  Joyce Overton, Aviston, Ill, and   Elizabeth (Tim) Wise of Caseyville, Ill.


He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Michael, Kenneth, Steve and John Trokey and a sister Patricia Mueller.


He was employed for 30 years in human resource management, retiring in 1999 from NTN-Bower Corporation.


Rich was a United States Air Force veteran.

 

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 480 in Steeleville, Ill. for 44 years and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie No. 3252 in Chester, Ill.

 

Rich was a charter member of the Steeleville Library Board and served several years on the Village of Steeleville Zoning Board.


It was Rich’s wish to be cremated.

 

A Celebration of Life for 81-year-old Richard L. Trokey of Steeleville, Ill., will be held at a later date.


Memorials may be made in Rich’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and are being accepted at Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.
