A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025 for 90-year-old Mary Lou Nicholson of Chester, Ill., who passed away at 4:25 pm, Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Independence Care Center in Perryville, Mo.
She was born March 22, 1935 in Bluefield, West Virginia to Preston and Madalyn (nee Yost) Peters, who both preceded her in death.
She married Harold “Nick” Nicholson on February 7, 1954 in Bluefield, Virginia; he preceded her in death on February 2, 2003.
She is survived by a daughter: Ginger (Mike) Cowan of Chester, Ill.; four grandchildren:
Nikki Cowan, Todd (Amanda) Cowan, Nathan Nicholson and Jermey (Kayla) Nicholson four great-grandchildren: Anna Pickett, Eva and Ari Cowan and Sunny Nicholson; a sister: Donna Ellison; a daughter-in-law: Jeanette Nicholson and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
She was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter: Landry Cowan and a sister: Judy Dudley.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary was a member at First Baptist Church in Chester, Illinois.
It was Mary Lou’s wishes to be cremated.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Chester, Illinois.
