JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD) has partnered with Coursera to launch three new courses to help Missourians strengthen their job search, job readiness, and finance skills at no cost.
The three new courses are now available online and include:
Missouri Job Ready Day One: This course provides foundational skills important to success in the workplace, such as effective communication, time management, problem solving, and teamwork skills.
Basic Financial Literacy: This course focuses on skill building in personal finance, such as budgeting, saving, personal cash flow, and financial planning.
Job Search Skills & Success: This course offers training in networking, job searching, building a personal brand, creating effective résumés, and job interviewing.
Coursera, which provide over 168 million learners worldwide with job-relevant education, offers a self-paced learning model and can be downloaded through a mobile app to allow individuals the flexibility to learn anywhere, anytime. Participants will receive a certificate once each individual course is completed, or they can choose to combine the courses and earn a Missouri Career Success Certificate.

Missourians can apply for a free course through Coursera at jobs.mo.gov/coursera. After MDHEWD receives your application, a team member from one of our job centers will reach out to you to help you enroll. Individuals must apply and enroll for Coursera through the specific steps provided by the department to access free courses.
MDHEWD began its partnership with Coursera in July 2020 as part of the Coursera Workforce Recovery Initiative to help displaced workers get back to work. The partnership expanded in October 2021 to offer all Missourians access to free Coursera courses. Coursera partners with over 350 leading universities and industry partners to offer a broad catalog of content and credentials, including over 9,200 courses, 1,200 specializations, and 150 professional certificates.
