A private funeral will be held for 96-year-old Mary Ellen Blanford of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Friday, April 11, 2025 at Ste. Genevieve Care Center in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
She was born November 30, 1928 in Jacob, Illinois.
She is survived by a daughter: Vicki S. Baumann (Special Friend Paul Bopp) of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; three granddaughters: Nancy J. (Dave) Bahr of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Julie (Mark) Bozich of Saint Louis, Mo., and Kelly (Greg) Roth of Fenton, Mo.; a grandson: Chuck (Becky) Baumann of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., great grandchildren: Jessica and Allison Bahr, Jordyn Bozich, Isla, Cora and Aydia Baumann.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Matthew E. Blanford; a son: Eddie M. Blanford; three sisters: Mildred Mathers, Dorothea Sanders, and Donna Claussen; six brothers: Andrew Claussen, William Claussen, Robert Claussen, James Claussen, Jerry Claussen, Harold Claussen; father, Oscar A. Claussen; mother, Mae Pearl (Seibole) Claussen; son-in-law, Charles Baumann.
Burial will be at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of the Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a past president, the Ste. Genevieve VFW Auxiliary, Ste. Genevieve American Legion Auxiliary, lifetime member and very actives in the Presbyterian Church in Ste. Genevieve and was very active, Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance Board, and a local women’s club.
Mary was awarded the Ste. Genevieve Business and Professional Women of the year.
Mary started every family visit with food.
She always put her family first and loved every minute she could spend with them.
Grandma Mary’s house was always home to all.
