SGHS wrestler Jacob Schweigert named Honorary Mayor of Ste. Genevieve

STE. GENEVIEVE –  At the recent Wrestling Sports Banquet and Awards Ceremony, Ste. Genevieve Mayor Brian Keim made a surprise appearance to recognize senior Jacob Schweigert with one of the city’s highest honors—naming him Honorary Mayor of Ste. Genevieve and presenting him with a Key to the City.

Jacob Schweigert, seen above with Head Wrestling Coach Jared Bonnell, was a dominant force in the heavyweight division, capped off his senior season with a state championship—finishing the year undefeated at 48-0. However, the mayor said it was his unwavering commitment, leadership, and the inspiration he provided to teammates and the community that led to this rare civic recognition.

“This isn’t just about winning a title,” Mayor Keim said. “Jacob embodies the values of hard work, perseverance, and dedication—qualities that define the best of Ste. Genevieve. He has inspired not only his team but our entire community.”
