Dr. John Boyd named 2025 Southeast Region Consummate Professional

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve County R-II School District is excited to announce that Dr. John Boyd Jr., principal of Ste. Genevieve High School, has been named the 2025 MoASSP/Walsworth Southeast Regional Consummate Professional.

This prestigious award, selected by peers, honors principals who exemplify dedication to the profession and the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MoASSP), and is bestowed in partnership with Walsworth Publishing Company.

MoASSP officially honored Dr. John Boyd Jr. and seven other regional recipients at the Walsworth Consummate Professional Reception during the Spring Conference on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Representatives from Walsworth Publishing Company were present to celebrate the honorees.

As part of this recognition, Walsworth provides a $500 scholarship, which Dr. John Boyd Jr. will award to a graduating senior at Ste. Genevieve High School. The scholarship has no restrictions on recipient selection.

Dr. Robert C. Howe, MoASSP Executive Director from 1987-1995, first coined the phrase “The Consummate Professional” to recognize exemplary leadership. Award recipients are selected for their impact on student achievement, contributions to their school and community, leadership within the principalship and MoASSP, and commitment to fostering a positive school climate. They are highly respected by students, colleagues, parents, and the broader community.

MoASSP Executive Director Clark Mershon emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “MoASSP is pleased to collaborate with Walsworth Publishing Company to honor these deserving Missouri principals and their students. Their leadership enriches schools and communities, aligning with our mission to enhance secondary education through positive leadership and student success.”
