SGHS French II students visit Holocaust museum, hear survivor’s story

STE. GENEVIEVE – Members of the French II class at Ste. Genevieve High School recently visited the Kaplan-Feldman Holocaust Museum in St. Louis as part of their studies on France’s role during World War II.

During the tour, students listened to Holocaust survivor Rachel Miller, whose experiences directly related to their recent studies on La Rafle du Vel d’Hiv, the mass round-up of Jews in Paris on July 16, 1942.

Following the museum visit, students immersed themselves in French culture at La Bonne Bouchée, a French café, restaurant and pastry shop in Creve Coeur. There, they enjoyed lunch, explored a variety of pastries and observed crepes being made in the newly opened crêperie café.

This hands-on experience deepened students’ understanding of history while allowing them to engage with French culture in a meaningful way.
