Missouri Departments of Agriculture, Natural Resources welcome EPA Administrator to Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn and Director of Natural Resources Kurt Schaefer welcome the opportunity to meet with Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin when he visits Missouri yesterday.

“We are pleased to see Administrator Zeldin visiting Missouri so quickly after taking the top post at EPA,” said Director Chinn. “Under Governor Mike Kehoe, our state departments of agriculture and natural resources work closely to help Missouri’s producers in their efforts to raise food and fiber for a growing world. We appreciate the efforts already underway by this new administration to help farmers and ranchers, including a vital revision of the Waters of the United States Rule.”

Administrator Zeldin announced the revision to the Waters of the U.S. Rule last week, a decision applauded by agriculture groups across the country. Today, Zeldin will meet with producers and commodity groups to discuss priorities of Missouri agriculture.

“The Department of Natural Resources is happy to be included in the conversation,” said Director Schaefer. “We’re proud to be part of the discussion with our farmers, ranchers and commodity groups on how we can strengthen food production and support Missouri agriculture.”
